Lili Reynaud Dewar’s edition Invisible Interpretation, made on the occasion of her exhibition in 2010, relates to Arnold Böcklin’s sandstone relief heads, commissioned for the garden facade of Kunsthalle Basel in 1871. Years ago, the original grimacing “masks” were moved to the lobby of Kunsthalle Basel, where they can be seen today. Reynaud Dewar made her own version—masks made out of leather, each different, and signed by the artist.
